Wheels to Tracks

Claas Jaguar 840 on tracks

For a Dutch customer this Claas Jaguar 840 was modified for soft clay conditions. This Claas corn harvester was originally built on wheels with a mechanical driveline. The main chassis and steel work of the harvester was modified for the track frames. Calculations, schedules were made to determine pump, motor and gear box type, but also hydraulic oil tank capacity and cooling capacity. The steering wheel is replaced by a single joystick and an electronic controller with own designed software.

The software controls the tracks, the steering and driving direction. Same as on our trenching equipment, the software uses dual path control and load control. Combining the Rexroth pumps with the 365 hp Mercedes V8 engine results in driving speeds up to 16 km/h.
